Having turned 42 this year and having recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, quotes from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy have been running through my mind lately. (What can I say, other than I'm a geek!) I wanted a single spot to post information to keep everyone up-to-date with my diagnosis and treatment.

No Matter What Bill Says...
I am not a mutant!
Okay, so that may still be debatable; however, the results of the genetics tests are back and I do not have either BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations. Both of those gene mutations have been specifically linked to breast cancer. If I had either mutation, the chances of recurrence of breast cancer or the occurrence of another cancer in the ovaries or elsewhere would have been greatly increased.
Next week I'll have a couple more tests to contend with before the surgery. On Wednesday, they're going to do an ultrasound and biopsy my axillary lymph nodes because the lymph nodes were prominent in the MRI. Hopefully, the lymph nodes are cancer free as the surgeon won't need to take as many (if any) when she removes the tumor.
Friday will be the abdominal ultrasound to check out my liver. They saw something that appeared to be a cyst when they did the MRI. Hopefully, that is all it is.
Happy Friday!
Love & Hugs
