Okay today really wasn't a day to have to overcome a giggle fit!
I had an appointment to get a CAT scan completed so they can set up the focused beams for radiation.
So, the tech first makes a foam "pillow" to help me stay in position while they do the treatments. While the chemical reaction to make the foam put off a nice bit of heat, it also had an obnoxious smell.
While the pillow is forming, the doctor comes in and makes a few marks. So, I'm laying on the table, the robe open on the right side, arms above my head, all marked up... And the next step is the placing of some wires. Now, I can't see anything they are doing, but from the way things felt, I imagine by the time the wires were placed, my right side looked like a topographic map, with the wires marking all the contours. I have no idea why that image struck me as funny, but it did. It didn't help that I was slightly ticklish as the wires were being placed. I managed to keep from busting out laughing... Barely. I didn't succeed in not smiling. I'm sure the tech wondered what that was all about. :-)
I go back Wednesday and they'll test out the setup. Then treatments will start next Thursday and be every weekday (minus holidays) until the treatments are done... All 39 of them.
In other news, one of my cousins has started a RFL team for an upcoming event. If you want to join us, shoot me an email and I'll send you the info. :-)
Love & Hugs
*I* wonder how often they see or hear someone smiling OR laughing during the procedure! Better than crying! Luv U!
